**How We Do It:**

Through various avenues such as module development, episode creation, and other support for NuWave initiatives, we provide valuable insights into media and marketing concepts, equipping our audience with practical knowledge they can apply.
Moreover, we prioritize the empowerment of our volunteers, boosting their self-confidence and reinforcing the significant role they play in shaping our collective future. In addition to this, we delve into holistic approaches to achieving balance, sharing practical tips and strategies for navigating the complexities of daily life.
By nurturing an environment that fosters learning, growth, and self-expression, we empower our community members to embrace their unique voices and talents while drawing inspiration and support from others. This collaborative spirit not only allows us to make a tangible impact on people's lives but also creates a supportive space for both personal and professional development.
**What We Do:**
In practice, we educate in social media best practices, safety, understanding algorithms by applying various methods to their own projects, offering and hands on approach, giving individuals a way to discover, develop, and share their stories, all while fostering a sense of belonging and community. Participants are encouraged to take our educational modules, participate independently/gorup setting to learn holistc techniques, select podcast communities aligned with their interests and identities, actively engaging in all aspects of podcast production. Overall, we offering education on media and marketing, we also incorporate mindfulness techniques and a holistic approach to nurture well-being and promote sustainable creativity, whilw building community, and empwoering you and gving you a chance to growth.
In practice, we engage in hands-on education, providing practical guidance on social media best practices, safety measures, and understanding algorithms. In addition to offering education on media and marketing, we integrate mindfulness techniques and holistic approaches to promote well-being and sustainable creativity. Through our efforts, we aim to build a supportive community while empowering individuals to thrive and grow personally and professionally.
How It All Started
Nuwave Community Media began with two Bay Area kids who found their voice through creativity long before they had the language for digital literacy or mental health. Julian grew up in media programs that offered a safe place to explore, express himself, and step away from the pressures of everyday life. Those early spaces—full of artists, mentors, and community—showed him how storytelling could support healing, identity, and belonging. Ricardo’s path was shaped by theater, media projects, and a growing fascination with how marketing influences the world around us. Through school and creative work, he saw how stories shape perception, opportunity, and the way people understand themselves. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, everything shifted. People were isolated, overwhelmed, and pulled deeper into algorithm‑driven spaces that blurred the line between coping and numbing. Media was everywhere, but mental health was unraveling. Both founders recognized something urgent: people needed tools to understand what they were consuming, how it was shaping them, and how to stay grounded in a digital world that felt louder than ever.
Why We Chose the Name “Nuwave”
As media evolved into new media, it felt like a new wave was forming—a wave of young creators, new technologies, and new ways of reaching people. But it also needed a new wave of care, leadership, and mental wellness. “Nuwave” became a name that held all of that: creativity, community, and the responsibility to use media with intention.
What We Believe
At Nuwave, media, marketing, mindfulness, and meta‑awareness are inseparable. We teach people how digital spaces influence their emotions, attention, and sense of self—and how to navigate those spaces with clarity instead of being pulled by the algorithm. Understanding how marketing works helps people take their power back. Practicing mindfulness helps them stay grounded. Building meta‑awareness helps them recognize what’s shaping their thoughts and choices. Together, these skills create a healthier, more intentional relationship with technology.
